Today for P.E. We played bat down.
Dad throws the ball to me and i hit the ball over the road.
Then Uncle Smithy had to throw the ball back
to try and hit the bat.
Kia ora Hunter,
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to see you outside playing some PE. Bat down sounds like a fantastic game, however I do have to admit that I have never played it before. Is this game similar to cricket?
I played cricket a few times when I was younger, mainly in PE classes at school. I always enjoyed hitting the ball with the bat, and trying to get it as far away as I possibly could.
You mentioned how you hit the ball over the road.
How far did you manage to hit the ball?
What happened after you hit the ball; did you have to run anywhere?
Do you have any tips on how to improve/get better at this game?
It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know!
You also mentioned how your Uncle Smithy had to throw the ball back and try to hit the bat.
If he did hit the bat, does that mean that you would be out?
How long did you and your family play cricket for?
Was it difficult to play on the long grass?
Keep blogging Hunter, you’re doing an amazing job!

Hi Kieryn thank you for your comment.
ReplyDeleteBat down is a game i learnt at christmas with my cousins while in Nelson.
Once you hit the ball someone catches it, as the batter I'm aloud to say how many throws they are aloud to see if they can hit the bat. if they do hit the bat then i become the bowler and they are the batter.
The long grass can make it a bit tricky but its fun.
Kia ora Hunter,
DeleteThank you for replying to my comment and letting me know how to play the bat down game!
I think I am starting to understand this game a bit more, but I am still a little bit lost as to how to completely play.
As the batter, you mentioned how you are the one who decides how many throws a player can have in order for them to hit the bat.
Is the aim of the game for the thrower to hit the bat, or for the batter to hit the ball?
Once the ball has been thrown and hit, do the batter and thrower then swap positions?
How exactly do you win this game?
It would be awesome if you could once again reply to this comment and let me know!
Apart from bat down, are there any other outside games you have been playing?
If so, what are they and who do you play them with?
Keep up the fantastic blogging!
